Little Fish

This is Holdens 3rd summer taking swimming lessons. I am finally starting to notice some results, he still has far to go to be able to swim on his own. But it is exciting to see how much he loves the water and is learning new skills all the time. Unfortunately my broken foot has put a halt to anymore this summer.

Update on the foot

I went to the Orthopedic doc this morning and saw the x-ray of my break, not so pretty. But the doc checked me out and because I also sprained my ankle--which I figured since it is swollen and almost more painful than my foot, I will have to wear the nasty boot until the ankle feels better. Then I can wear the shoe for another 4-6 weeks. I am soooo annoyed with the boot and most especially the crutches, they are awful. I can start walking on it as soon as it doesn't hurt to put pressure on it. Luckily my mom has been able to help get Holden to swim lessons and me to the doc and all that, since I can't drive with the boot, I will be able to with the shoe though. The good news is I don't need surgery to fix it since it is a pretty clean and straight break. I am still annoyed at my stupidness for having done it in the first place, but what can you do????

What a Weekend!!!

We headed into our fun weekend all bright eyed and bushy tailed. On Friday was Tylers works annual day at the lake. We went to beautiful East Canyon, and spent a very hot fun day at the lake. Holden did the board ski again and all 3 of the boys did the water weenie--not for me!! We rushed home to clean up and head to Weber Canyon to spend the night in a friends cabin, so all the biker buddies could go on a ride in the morning. That night Holden rode around for the first time on a little 4-wheeler, he sure seemed to enjoy it and kept getting more daring each time he rode it. The next morning while the guys were riding, we took the kids to a fun indoor pool in Kamas and unfortunately I was going from one pool to another and misjudged how deep the pool was and went down very hard on my foot. Not fun, I thought I was going to pass out. Luckily Tyler arrived not too long after that and we headed to InstaCare and lo and behold I broke a bone in my foot. OUCH!!! My first broken bone. It ended up being a fun weekend, other than my foot, but what can you do but roll with the punches--on crutches!!

Welcome to the Kirks MOTley Crew blog site (If you are all wondering about the spelling, I am not very creative, so the MOT stands for mother of twins). I have enjoyed checking in on all my friends and families blogs and decided to create one as well. I hope you all enjoy....

Things we have done this summer

Tyler doing his favorite pastime-cycling. This picture is from an 80 mile race he did from Kamas, UT through the High Uintas to Evanston, WY. He came in 3rd in his category. Go Tyler. And yes we are watching every stage of the Tour de France!!
